ORS Gas Collection Cylinders are used for collecting representative samples of sealing, process and environmental gases.
Cylinders have been designed to allow the collection of gases directly from the source. They are equipped with two high vacuum valves and shipped under 10-8 torr to enable the sampling of unpressurized sources.
Possible applications of the gas cylinders are :
- To collect a sample of low pressure process stream gases, the cylinder can be connected to the gas supply at the desired location, using gas tight fittings. By opening both valves, the process stream gas is allowed to flow through the cylinder thus purging the line. Once stabilized, the valves are closed and the cylinder is shipped back to ORS for analysis.
- To collect a sample of a dry box atmosphere, the cylinder is installed in the dry box by passing through the airlock. As the cylinder is under vacuum, opening the valve will let the atmosphere flow into the cylinder. If a vacuum line is available inside the sealing chamber, it may be connected to the cylinder to facilitate additional circulation. Once stabilized, the valves are closed and the cylinder is shipped back to ORS for analysis.
The gas sample is then analyzed by Internal Vapor Analysis. IVA test results can be used to determine proper helium mixing and concentrations, identify leaks in the system and other gas compositions.
